Learning Challenge

Our ‘Learning Challenge’ curriculum is based on teaching skills that empower the children’s learning in all areas and has solid foundations in oracy, reading, writing, maths and ICT. Each unit taught is based on a series of challenges and incorporates questions the children have considered themselves. The units can be subject based or theme based allowing related learning challenges to be taught together.

The Learning Challenges -

·        teach curriculum content (incorporating the statutory National Curriculum)

·        allow the application of basic skills – oracy, reading, writing, maths & ICT

·        encourage pupils to acquire skills that empower their learning and help them become:-

o   self-managers;

o   effective participators;

o   resourceful thinkers;

o   reflective learners;

o   independent enquirers and

o   team workers.

Further information about the Skills to Empower Learning that we teach can be found in the documents below.

Check out our class pages to see the Learning Challenges happening at the moment.
