Welcome to Mr Brill's Literacy Page

Our Learning

A busy new term ahead, some big challenges too as we push ourselves to Aim High, we look to working together with each of you to move our learning forward.

Homework

Spellings:

Learning those weekly spellings (new ones issued weekly).

We endeavour to test each set of spellings weekly - then we challenge you to apply them in your everyday writing – don’t let all that hard learning go to waste – use it or lose it!

Think carefully about the spelling strategies you have been taught throughout the school to help you succeed with your spellings.

Find this week’s spellings for your spelling group on the document list below.
Don't forget the Challenge spellings!

Reading:

"The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more you learn, the more places you'll go."

— Dr. Seuss, "I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!"

In order to become better writers, you must become better readers. Hence, we expect that you read daily. However, there is nothing worse than reading because you feel that you have to; on the other hand, there is nothing better than reading because you can't put the book down! Therefore, we want you to read books that you enjoy. Feel free to recommend any books in class or to ask for recommendations.

Please make sure you read to an adult at least three times a week and have them sign your reading record – they are welcome to write a comment about how well you have done it too if they wish!  Grown-ups are often awfully busy, so help them out have your reading record with you for them to sign and a pen!

Your reading record will be checked regularly.

Happy Reading!
