Week 18 - Final Week

END OF TERM!

It's the last two days of school! I know Year 5 hasn't been what we expected, but it's definitely been a year to remember! I want to say a big well done if you have managed to keep up with some school work. It can be really hard to stay motivated when we are not in the classroom and I have seen some brilliant work that you have sent me! If you haven't done as much work as you had hoped to, do not worry, we will fill in any gaps when we get back in September! I encourage you to try and keep up your reading, handwriting and times tables during Summer. There are a few activity ideas below. Remember you can also practise on TT Rockstars, Hit The Button and take a quiz when you have finished reading on Accelerated Reader. If you want to continue any more home learning during Summer (this is not compulsory and I think it is vital that you have a break!), then feel free to go back on any weeks' PowerPoints or lessons that you have may missed. There is also a wide range of lessons on the National Oak Academy website.

Please make sure you thank your parents and carers for keeping you at home and safe during lockdown. I know lots of them have been supporting you with your home learning too and some may have been working themselves so thank you from me too!

As it's the last two days of school, there are some fun end of year activities for you to complete! It is a chance to reflect on the year and set some goals for Year 6! You'll find these below the timetable. The timetable for this week is only a guide so you're welcome to have a go at the activities in whichever order you like! I would love to see some of these activities and how you have felt about Year 5 so please upload some work to your portfolio on Class Dojo!

If you haven't already, please sign up to Class Dojo and register with our school - it's completely free and is something we're going to be using a lot more in September. You can also upload photos onto your profile so that your current and new teachers will be able to see the fantastic things you've been up to and comment on them. It also allows parents and carers to private message your teacher if you have any questions.

Finally, have a lovely Summer! You deserve a break! If you would like some fun activities to do then there are some suggestions here https://www.sawleyjunior.co.uk/summer-2020-home-support/ as well as some advice on what school may look like in September. Please do not worry about coming back to school! It will look a little different to normal (different classroom layouts, different lunch times and more washing hand times etc!) but all of that is so that we can keep safe, just as you have been doing for the last few months. I am looking forward to seeing you all and I am sure that you will be excited to see each other! If you have any worries or questions, just pop your teacher a message on Class Dojo. For now, have a super Summer!!
