  • Easter 2015

    Thu 12 Mar 2015

All children are welcome to take part the “decorate a boiled egg” competition which will be judged during the day. Please bring all entries to the hall on the Friday morning with your child’s name and class marked on it. The theme for this year is “Eggciting Reading”. We would ask that the maximum size for all entries is shoe box size.

We would also welcome any donations of Easter Eggs to be used in the raffle for the Friends of Sawley Juniors School. Raffle tickets will be on sale at 20p each break time for pupils to purchase from 17th March. Donations of any size egg can be left at the office.

  • Amazing End to Book Week - Thanks!

    Sat 07 Mar 2015

Can we just say a very 'Big Thank You!', to both parents and children for the effort you gave to supporting our Book Week.  Everywhere we looked on Friday, we saw a wealth of book characters all around the school - from classic fiction to modern fiction, from fairy tales to science fiction, you all looked fab-u-lous!!!

Everyone had a wonderful week sharing books, reading books, creating wonderful things based on favourite books, as well as meeting some real-life authors Cid and Mo who introduced us to the 'Janksters' and having a storytelling session kindly delivered by Derbyshire Library Service.  A busy week I'm sure you will agree!

One key message we aimed to promote during the week was that much fun can be had from reading and that all that practise reading aloud to parents to perfect our reading skills, can open up a whole new world!  Please continue to encourage your child to read - it truly is a skill that will enrich their lives forever!
