If your child is a member of Vocal Zone or a school musician on Tuesday 1st December at 7pm we will be performing a musical extravaganza which they are involved in. The show should be finished by 8pm.
Pupils will need to arrive at school no earlier than 6.40pm and will need to wear a red top plus blue jeans with black shoes or pumps. Pupils’ outfits need to be in school in a named carrier bag by Monday 23rd November as we have dress rehearsals and performances to the whole school to complete prior to the actual show.
Please note the last afterschool Vocal Zone practice will be Wednesday 18th November until after Christmas. (There is no practice on 25th November due to staff training)
You and your family and friends are invited but depending on numbers attending we may have to ask that small children sit on knees.
Please come and see us if you have any further questions.
Children In Need Day - The children have decided that they would again like to support this worthwhile cause, which will be held on Friday 13th November. The School Council have decided that we will be selling a limited number of Pudsey and Blush wristbands, which will cost £1, we will also be selling a very limited amount of Pudsey Bear keyrings which will be priced at £2.50, both of which will be for sale before school at 8.45 from the hall Monday 9th November - Wednesday 11th November, on a first come first served basis.
The children have also decided that they would like to come in fancy dress on the day of someone they admire, or to dress in Pudsey colours of red and yellow. A contribution towards Children in Need Day is recommended of £1.
We will also have a cake sale at breaktime. Please bring cakes in on the day either homemade or shop bought, to try and raise as much money as possible and to smash last years total raised of £285.
In November 2015, Sawley Junior School will see the launch of our new Parent Forum.
This is an exciting initiative that aims to facilitate positive and effective communication between school and our parents and carers. We hope it will have a positive impact on children’s learning and their school experiences.
With the beginning of our life as part of Willows Academy Trust and the development of our curriculum so that our children can ‘Aspire, Achieve, and Thrive’, this is an exciting time for our school.
We feel that it is an important time for you too and therefore wish to strengthen the partnership and communication between school and our parents and carers.
Becoming a member of our Parent Forum will give you the chance to see how we constantly strive to improve and develop. It will also give you the chance to see how important you are as parents and carers in the education of your children.
The Parent Forum will be open to all our parents and carers to have the opportunity to discuss matters relating to school life. This could range from issues in our community e.g. parking/ traffic problems outside school to homework and aspects of the curriculum.
It is a chance for you to share your views and listen to ours too!

I hope you’ve all had a relaxing summer break and the children are looking forward to returning to school.
We have had some extensive building works over the summer – relaying the hall floor being one of the largest. Due to problems encountered along the way which could not be foreseen, the hall floor is not quite ready and excavation work has created much dust! Because of this, the school kitchen will not be fully functioning on Tuesday for the children’s return. We have arranged to provide a packed lunch for all children who would normally have a school meal on Tuesday. We will hopefully resume the normal hot menu on Wednesday. For those of you with children at Sawley Infants, this will also be the case for our infant children.
Please be reminded that school meal prices have now increased to £2.00 per day or £10 per week. The cost for the autumn half term if paying in full will be £68 and the first week back will be £8.
In addition to the changed to lunch arrangements on Tuesday, the relaying of the hall floor has also interrupted the school office; we won’t be able to get the office networks up and running until Monday – hopefully! Please bear with us during this time. We hope to be fully functioning by Wednesday - Thursday at the latest.
Thankfully, none of the above will affect the children’s learning time in the classrooms.

In the light of our ever changing technological world, we have reviewed some of policies.
On the 'Parents' tab under 'Documents', please find the following new policies/documents:
We will be re-visiting 'Safer Computing - being wise, keeping safe' with the children in the final week of term.
We have also added some leaflets regarding Safeguarding and safety online that have been produced by DCC - Derbyshire County Council. You will find these on the 'Documents' page.
